What were the thirteen northern and southern states represented by regiments at the Battle of Monocacy? The Battle of Monocacy took place in Maryland. 1864.
North: Vermont, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia.

There were only 12 different states represented, but Virginia fought with both the North and South. The Loudon Virginia Rangers fought on the Union side.
