Greyhound Handicapping - How to Win With Special Dogs

If you want to make money at the dog track, one way is to spend a lot of time watching races. If you do that, and if you have a good memory or record-keeping system, you'll find the special dogs that other bettors never find.

These dogs can make you money, because they're almost always longshots when they come in. This is because they disappoint so many bettors that few people think they're a good bet, even when they are. To make money on them though, you have to only bet them at the right time.

One special dog is the dog that only runs well when it can see the lure. If it loses sight of it, it drops back and just lopes along, following the other dogs. This is a dog to bet when you can tell that it's going to get out in front and stay in front. That way, there are no other dogs between it and the lure.

Another special dog is the dog that only comes in when it has enough room to run where it wants to run. Unlike better running dogs, who will jockey for position and try hard to win no matter where they are on the track, this dog has to have things his own way or he doesn't run.

You can make money on this type of dog when it's in exactly the position it wants to be in for its running style, with no interference from the other dogs. The way you find dogs like this is by watching races until you spot a dog that only comes in when it's in a certain box or certain part of the track.

One dog that bettors lose faith in quickly is the fader. This is a dog that runs at the front of the pack, but then drops back at the end of the race. At least, this is what it looks like. Actually, it's usually more a case of the other dogs passing this dog.

Make money on this dog when it's in a race where the other dogs are not able to close at the end of the race. Look for races with several early speed dogs who will burn each other out by the end of the race, allowing the "fader" to win.

There are other dogs that only win when the right situation comes along. Look for these dogs and figure out when they have everything the way they want it and you'll be way ahead of the other bettors.
